Amazon.com Review
Go full steam ahead on tough ironing chores with this 1,500-watt iron from Rowenta. A cord-reel mechanism retracts the power cord at the touch of a button. A large 8-1/2-ounce, transparent water tank means fewer refills and a clear view of water level, so there’s no running out of steam in the middle of a job. A newly designed stainless steel soleplate ensures a smooth glide and corrosion resistance. The soleplate’s profiled tip with holes carries steam to the edge of the iron for better results in tight areas such as inseams. The DX1900 comes with an anti-drip function that works by delaying steam production until the iron is at just the right temperature. An anti-calcium mechanism protects prevents lime and scale build up for long lasting steam performance. For safety, Rowenta designed this iron with a 3-way “smart” auto-off switch that automatically turns off the iron in 8 minutes if left vertically, 30 seconds if left horizontally, and 30 seconds if tipped over. Plus, the unit is equipped with a comfort handle and soft touch grips for non-slip grip and ironing. Brian Olson

It’s great, if it works!!! After keep exchanging it over and over, I gave up the 5th time. First time, spray didn’t work, second time, power steam button didn’t release the steam, third time, it was too strong fabric got stock underneath the iron and I couldn’t clean the iron, fourth time, steam problem again, fifth time, steam problem again. Poorly tested product. I would’ve been really happy to keep it, if it was working properly. It actually had all the features I was looking for. Too bad for Rowenta for not testing their products properly.

This iron is great… when it works. I loved mine but it broke within two weeks. It stopped heating up at all. I was extremely disappointed since I thought I was buying a high-quality iron. Rowenta did replace the iron at no cost; however, it took three weeks which is a long time to be without an iron. I really hope my new one keeps working because it is a great iron that heats up fast and makes ALOT of steam.

Rowenta iron
I love my Rowenta, this is my second one, I knocked mine off the ironing board and it started leaking all the water out.

I have previously owned a Rowenta iron, which was made in Germany and worked flawlessly every time. Unfortunately, after a couple years of heavy use, the unit would no longer power — at all. I replaced it with the $60 Rowenta Effective DX1900, the item featured here. Because I thought highly of the brand, I never noticed until after I took the unit home that this one was made in China. I was disappointed. For the price, I could have saved some money with another cheap unit also made in China. Rather than return the unit, I decided to keep it to see how long it would last. After just a couple months, the iron is basically useless. The safety auto-off switch is faulty, so every five seconds I have to tap the unit in just the right place and with just the right amount of force to resume heating. Forget just a gentle tilt like my previous unit.
All in all, I am disappointed with Rowenta more than this specific product. I feel betrayed, as though the company has traded in quality to make an extra buck.

Defective model
I have the same problem as apparently many others. The auto switch is faulty- switches off and will not come back on unless unlugged and plugged. I will not buy Rowenta again.

awful product
This is the worst steam iron I ever had in my life! When you need steam you’ll have only a blinking Auto/Off button, is leaking, does not clean itself as it claims…

Works good but not reliable
The iron works well and has nice features, especially the retracting cord and the no drip water feature. Unfortunatley the overall quality is lacking.

great – until it stops working
We’re on our 3rd Rowenta Effective DX1900. When these models work, they’re great. But after paying a decent amount of money for it, I expected it to last.

DO NOT BUY ROWENTA
I purchased a Rowenta because of its reputation. At first, the iron was a dream come true and now it won’t heat up, shuts off by itself, then I have to plug it in and unplug it…

Great Iron; When it Worked; Out of Warranty
The iron was great for approximately the warranty period. Ok, to be fair we did get a couple of months past warranty.

Ironing not a chore anymore!
After using the same iron I received as a shower gift over ten years ago I decided to upgrate. Wow, what a difference a better iron makes.

Great iron, if it only worked correctly
This iron was a great product, even though I already had to replace the one I bought in December with this newer one.
